Gateway DX4380, AMD A8-5500 Quad Core 3.2GHz with ATI Radeon HD 7560D 16GB RAM 1 TB SATA 7200 RPM Windows 8 Pro 64-bit PDR11, PDVD12.CyberLink PowerDirector is a robust video and audio editor which provides everything you need to create professional-looking videos and photo slideshows, complete with music, voice-overs, special effects, transitions, and much more. On my remote I have to almost do a double-click on the "Prev" button to go back to the previous chapter page. You don't have to use the arrow buttons on your remote to navigate thru the chapter items in order to get to the "Next" and "Prev" buttons on the chapter menu pages. One nice feature of the chapter menus in PowerDirector 8 Ultra is that you can use the "Next"/"Prev" buttons on your remote to navigate to the next and previous chapter menu pages. Maybe some of the menus from PowerDirector 7 will return to the Chapter menu, but I'm not going to uninstall my version 8 build 2220c to find out. The "Menu" button will not work, only the "Top Menu" button on your remote will work. PowerDirector 8 Ultra only returns to the top menu. I've looked for settings in PowerDirector that would allow me to control this behavior, but I haven't found anything - nor have I found anything in the Help file. I've tried these disks on two different DVD players with the same results. One problem I've encountered is that when I play one of these disks, I cannot return to the Chapter Menu when I'm playing the DVD if I hit the "Menu" button on the DVD player's remote, I get a "not permitted" message on-screen. Quote: I installed MediaSuite 8 yesterday and have been produced/burned several DVDs already using PowerDirector. (And if I bought the software from Cyberlink online, does that count as "retail"? It certainly isn't "wholesale" which is the usual opposite of "retail.") Is there a way to get my money back? I've had the software for less than 48 hours and I already regret buying it.īTW, the upgrade page of the Cyberlink website is pretty poorly designed it distinguishes between the price of upgrading a "Retail" version of the software and a non-retail version, but it doesn't indicate what the price is for someone who owns MS8 and wants the full version of PD8. Is this another basic, fundamental feature that has been crippled to force buyers to spend even more money? I also have noticed that with MS8 it is not possible to burn a DVD at any speed less than the maximum tolerated by the media, even though the software appears to allow the user the choice of burning at a lower speed. ![]() But it's dumb of Cyberlink to disable a feature and not let the user know that it's available in the more expensive version. I have noticed other features that appear to be available in the version of PD8 that comes with MS8 that in fact are not available, but at least they do generate a pop-up message indicating that they are only available with an upgrade - and in fact providing an upgrade link at least that makes sense from a business perspective, even though it's cheesy. It also seems to be a very unwise business decision by Cyberlink, because without posting my question in this forum, I would never have known that this feature was available in the full version of PD8 and I would have instead assumed that PD8 simply was not very good. This seems like a crass decision by Cyberlink to hook people and then force them to spend even more money to upgrade. In fact, I could find no details on the Cyberlink website as to how the version of PD8 that comes with MS8 differs from the full version of PD8. ![]() I investigated the features of MS8 before I bought it and saw no indication that something so basic was not included in the version of PD8 that came with MS8. It is a basic feature that should be available even in MS8. ![]() The ability to return to the menu is not an "advanced" or sophisticated feature of DVD authoring software that should be limited to only the most expensive version of the software. ![]()
